Heads up on new Minnesota legislation effective August 1: (8 hours ago)

So, What Is Off the Clock?

Save the date

Greg is back from Italy, so we’re returning to our regularly-scheduled monthly Thursday happy hours.  Save the date for Off the Clock #6 on Thursday, February 25, 3:00-6:00 at Common Roots Cafe in Minneapolis.

What is Off the Clock?  Prompted by discussions on the MSBA’s solosmall listserv, we’ve been having get-togethers with Minnesota State Bar Association members to talk shop and to walk through hands-on demonstrations of tech tools. It’s an informal forum to ask questions and learn new tricks. Our topics always come from YOU – from discussions on the solosmall listserv or otherwise.  Have something you want to learn or discuss?  Let us know in the comments here or via the Off the Clock group.  Or bring your questions to the meeting.  In addition, Greg is planning to take another look at blogging, try out the new Fastcase iPhone app and other legal research developments, and talk about some case management software we’re testing out.

Review

For videos and discussions on previous topics, MSBA members can join  mypractice and the Off the Clock group.  Topics so far are creating a blog, making email rules in Outlook, Bates stamping with Adobe, creating a Google profile, timeline software, mindmap software, creating a web contact form, and online data storage.

If you’ve ever considered blogging, it’s worth signing up just to check out the three-part video series created by Greg as part of the December Off the Clock.  Members have commented that they now feel comfortable setting up a website, and other tasks that seemed out of reach before are now attainable.

Reading this after the meeting?  Go to our Off the Clock page on this blog or on mypractice for future dates.
