Heads up on new Minnesota legislation effective August 1: (8 hours ago)

To Infinity and Beyond!

Here at practicelaw we’re thinking BIG picture. Nope, not the movies.  We’re thinking once again about how to make practicelaw an essential practice resource for Minnesota attorneys.

Looking back on the last major brainstorming session two years ago, we accomplished almost everything we set out to do. We redesigned the site and added a content management system, added practice management resources with the help of Minnesota Lawyers Mutual, updated the Colleague program, and produced the probate forms, among other things.  We also expanded your online services with mypractice, mnfindalawyer.com, social media, and this blog. After launching the new practicelaw site in September, we’re now brainstorming again about practicelaw’s long-term direction.

For that, we need your help.  While we work to make your practice more efficient, we can do a better job if you tell us what you need.  Do you have a form you hate? Or do you desperately need a form for something? Do you need additional resources—like checklists or flowcharts—for a specific area?  Let us know, and we can add it to our collective practicelaw brain.

While I’m relatively new here, I’m personally on a mission to add more practice management materials, rework the health care directive form, and look into adding more resources for transactional practice areas.  As one of many new lawyers who are venturing into the world of solo practice (yes, I’m a part-timer here at the MSBA and hold down a practice with the other half), it’s ironic I haven’t been able to use practicelaw much in my own estate planning and business practices.  But that’s all the more reason for me to work here and try to bring more value to your MSBA membership.  Let me know how we can become your essential practice resource.
