Two Internet Freebies Worth Noting

The internet these days is full of amazingly free information, from Google Scholar and its collection of legal opinions to Wikipedia and its huge collection of links to even more free things, such as a resource list for public domain images).  Two free things have impressed me recently. Even though one is really geared toward the marketing of a product, both resources deserve attention:

Adobe, the software giant, provides a series of “eSeminars” related to its Acrobat product line (y’know, the PDF guys), including one on January 15 entitled  “Acrobat 9 for Legal Professionals.” On top of that, the Acrolaw blog keeps a nice library of its prior video tutorials, all of which provide a great array of resources for using Adobe Acrobat in your practice. If you are a larger law firm or if you have clients that want you to take a stab at drafting social media guidelines for the workplace, don’t reinvent the wheel. Social Media Governance maintains a rapidly growing Online Database of Social Media Policies, which at last look had more than 100 policies from around the world, from About to Yahoo and all sorts of places in between.

Gregory Luce - Greg is the Practice Development Director at the Minnesota State Bar Association, where he oversees development of the association's various member-related online services, including practicelaw, mnfindalawyer, Fastcase, mypractice, and mndocs. A 1993 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law, he has been an attorney in private practice, a solo practitioner, and a staff attorney for Legal Aid. From 1999 to 2005, he was the Executive Director of Project 504, a tenant advocacy organization. He lives in South Minneapolis with his wife and two boys.
