Practice Blawg: Maybe It’s Time for Law on a Stick (2 days ago)

Ask and We Receive: County Clearance Certificate Contacts

Earlier, we promised to compile a list of contacts in the various counties of individuals responsible for issuing Medical Assistance Clearance Certificates, which are needed in descent proceedings and for Transfer on Death Deeds .  As I wrote earlier, we tried to “crowdsource” this project to get volunteers to give us the information they had, which partially worked. Thanks to those who contributed – it was a nice way to try this experiment, which we will continue to try again in other ways.

Ultimately, though, at our prompting and after Julian Zweber kindly requested a contact list from DHS, we received one from them directly, and it is currently (though temporarily) housed here.  We are thankful to Julian and to the DHS folks, namely Dale Klitzke and Greg Lulic, each of whom apparently went out of their way to update this list, knowing that it would be helpful to attorneys and the legal community.

That said, we plan to add this to the new practicelaw, which rolls out in mid to late July (stay tuned, we hope you will like it and may ask a small group of you to help us test it out soon). We will enhance the directory so that it is also more easily searched and indexed, making it quick to hone in on exactly the information you need.

Again, thanks to Julian, Dale, Greg, Nancy Hupp and Leslie Matton-Flynn at the MSBA, and all of you who volunteered information. Hope this is useful, and stay tuned as we enhance its future usability.
